Overview & Highlights

Located at 1445 SOM Center Road in Mayfield Heights, OH, 5th Avenue Deli & Grill is a charming culinary destination that masterfully combines traditional deli classics with a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. This local gem specializes in hearty deli fare that pays homage to timeless recipes, infused with a fresh and homemade touch that keeps patrons coming back for more.

The menu is a delightful journey through deli staples, featuring standout options like the Lisa’s Turkey Club, layered with crispy bacon, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and creamy mayo on perfectly toasted white bread for just $13.95. Equally tempting is the Twin Towers, another classic piled high and served with care. For those craving the rich, smoky essence of cured meats, the Public Square, a robust combination of corned beef, pastrami, and Swiss cheese on rye, is a must-try, offering an explosion of savory flavors in every bite. Other signature sandwiches like the Times Square and Radio Station continue to highlight their expertise with pastrami and corned beef served on authentic rye, ensuring every mouthful is steeped in deli tradition.

Complementing these sandwiches are a variety of scrumptious sides. Imagine crispy homefries dusted with cheddar’s sharp tang, or the seasoned kick of Cajun fries, perfect for sharing or savoring solo. Lighter options like garden-fresh salads and steamed veggies provide a refreshing counterbalance to the robust mains. Their real mashed potatoes, topped with rich gravy, offer comfort food in its purest form, an indulgent side that feels like a warm hug on a plate.

The beverage selection at 5th Avenue Deli & Grill is just as thoughtfully curated, ranging from the classic warmth of freshly brewed coffee or soothing hot tea to nostalgic treats like IBC Root Beer and Chocolate Phosphate. These drinks perfectly complement the flavorful dishes and add to the overall dining experience.

Guests often celebrate the food here for its authenticity and heart. As one customer, Marie Lo, shared, the homemade hummus and tahini sauce alongside the chicken shawarma combo are simply unforgettable, reflecting the kitchen’s dedication to quality and genuine flavors not found in store-bought counterparts. The same care goes into their house-made corned beef, heralded as “amazing” by longtime fans.

The atmosphere at 5th Avenue Deli & Grill is relaxed and family-friendly, ideal for everything from casual lunches to weekend brunches. The staff’s attentiveness and warmth leave a lasting impression – customers like Anthony Adamic appreciate how the servers remember favorite orders and keep coffee cups filled with genuine care. The friendly service, highlighted by team members like Gio and Angie, ensures that visitors feel not just like diners but welcomed guests.

While a few have noted occasional delays or minor service lapses, these moments are far outweighed by the consistent quality of the food and the overall positive dining experience. Whether you are stopping in after a busy morning or meeting friends for a comforting meal, 5th Avenue Deli & Grill offers a satisfying retreat with tastes that evoke nostalgia and genuine craftsmanship.

If you’re in Mayfield Heights and crave a true deli experience rich with flavor, heart, and hospitality, 5th Avenue Deli & Grill makes a remarkable destination. Its combination of classic deli sandwiches, thoughtful sides, and an inviting ambiance makes it a memorable spot that echoes the soulful spirit of traditional American deli cuisine.

Visitor Testimonials (400)

Came in today for the first time and while our lunches were delicious, service left little to be desired. I asked for a water twice from two different people in addition to my iced tea and never received it, our server, while she was polite, didn’t seem to have much knowledge of the menu. We sat for over 1.5 hours for lunch because everything took longer than expected. Again, our meals were delicious and plentiful despite everything else. Will we return? Probably, but with hopes of quicker service.

randomly googled this place while staying in indianapolis, genuinely top 5 places i’ve ever been. the server Angie was a sweetheart and the food was absolutely amazing. 10/10

Family went for breakfast. Food was great, service was excellent. Highly recommend you give them a try. We have gone there once or twice a week. Six of us were there This and everything was good, and our Waitress is fantastic. See you soon

Delicious I got the chicken shawarma combo with fatush salad but with the pita bread . The hummus tastes is amazing not like the the ones in the store this is homemade hummus ! The tahini sauce delicious and my husband got the cornbeef they make it themselves in the restaurant also amazing ! I would recommend getting those I brought my leftovers home .

Gio was an excellent server. We were out of town guests and everything was amazing. He made our brunch experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely try to find an Eggspectation when I get back home. Thanks Gio!!!

My father and I have been coming to 5th Ave most Saturday mornings for a couple of years. The servers are so kind and attentive. They remember our usual meals, and my coffee never gets lower than half way. The omelets are phenomenal and quite generous. I haven’t found better breakfast food anywhere in Mayfield Heights.
